No patience for food creativity today...

Friday...

Got up late, got started on my walk late, and have been running late all day...of course it doesn't help that I have no motivation whatsoever to do anything productive today. Maybe I can convince my family to go out for sushi tonight...sushi always makes me happy :D I did manage to go on my walk this morning (technically it was almost afternoon) and turned it into a walk with intermittent jogging :P It's 3:38pm CST, and I'm just trying to get into the frame of mind that I need to do a 90-minute bodywork session followed by 30 minutes of rest, then another 90-minute bodywork session...I think I need to adjust the session times that I offer clients.

So here's what I've eaten so far today:

When I got up: the usual - 2 cups of decaf coffee with agave syrup and unsweetened almond milk;

Mid-morning: 2 pieces (by that, I mean rows of squares) of dark chocolate

Lunch: 1 flatbread topped with Thai chili sauce, lettuce leaf, sliced carrots, quartered tomatoes, Japanese turnips, roma tomato, pickled ginger, and Organic Suyo Long Chinese Cucumber.

Mid-afternoon snack: 1/2 cup of organic graham chocolate chip bunnies (Hey, I'm gonna need the energy, right?)

Dinner will probably be something with the leftover chicken from 2 nights ago...we also have some fresh, organic green beans -- maybe I'll make a stir-fry, if not tonight, then I'll make it for tomorrow night!

(9:14pm...By-the-way, we had yummy sushi for dinner tonight so the stir-fry will be for tomorrow night!)

Food and Childhood Memories...

Thursday....
So, I was going along quite well today, at least food-wise. I was too busy working on promoting my new belly dance workshop company to really think too much about food besides the "quench the gnawing pain in my stomach" thoughts. Then, late afternoon/early evening hit. I was done working on the computer and getting ready to switch gears to go from "belly dance workshop event promoter" to "massage therapist extraordinaire" and I wanted something... You know, right? You've had those moments that just drive you entirely batty because you're craving that elusive "something" but you just can't figure out what the heck it is??? So I walked over to the refrigerator, opened it, and the first thing I saw was the jar of quince jam I'd bought a few weeks ago when I was at the Mediterranean Supermarket. Quince jam...what wonderful childhood memories it brought back to me of my godmother and grandmother picking the quince fruit off the bush in the backyard then setting it into the pot to simmer for hours with plenty of sugar and pectin to make it into that thick-enough-to-slice jam. I remember the aroma was awesome and I couldn't wait until it'd be cool enough to eat, which would become an entire meal spread onto some good ol' saltine crackers! So, this late afternoon/early evening, I sat watching T.V. with my daughters and ate my childhood treat (except I used Ak-Mak crackers instead of saltines)until I just couldn't eat anymore...I was in heaven (at least until I had to go work on someone)!

What I ate today...

When I woke up: 2 cups of decaf coffee with 1 tsp of agave syrup and some unsweetened almond milk;

Mid-morning: 3 small clementine tangerines;

Lunch: Leftover Squash Slaw from last night with some Ak-Mak crackers and a piece of dark chocolate;

Mid-afternoon: quince jam with Ak-Mak crackers;

Late dinner: organic tomato bisque soup with organic cheddar bunnies.

It was a colorful food day I suppose...wonder what food adventure awaits tomorrow?

I have a love-hate relationship with food!!!

I love food!!! I do...I love making food and all the different taste sensations involved with food! Unfortunately, for those same reasons and the added reason that I hate being unhealthy and overweight, comes the hate part of my relationship with food *sigh*.

So here goes day 2 of putting what I'm eating all day out where my friends (& family) can see it in the hope that I'll succumb less to the temptations that involve having teenagers & a husband with propensities for lots of carbs ... and not the good, natural kind involving plants! Tag along if you want; add your own list of the foods you've eaten throughout the day and maybe we can all start eating healthier together! Keep on the lookout for new recipes here too! *Hint - there's one at the end of today's blog that's really yummy AND healthy to boot!*

When I got up: 2 cups of decaf coffee (1 tsp. agave syrup & some unsweetened almond milk);

Mid-morning: Used my wonderful juicer and did my cleansing juice (Kale, cucumber, apple, beet, lemon, ginger, & 1 tsp. raw honey -- I've decided that I prefer the taste of raw honey above-and-beyond any other!!);

Lunch: 2 slices of sprouted grain sesame bread, 1 roma tomato (sliced), endive, dandelion greens, green leaf lettuce, some organic marinara sauce, red sweet pepper, green onion, & pickled ginger, and 1 piece of dark chocolate to ease the taste of the onions :D

Afternoon: A large cup of decaf Hazelnut coffee with 2 tsps of agave syrup and almond milk; a coconut milk vanilla flavored yogurt.

Dinner: Curry Mango grilled chicken with Summer Squash Coleslaw (scroll down for recipe)--very, very yummy!

T.V. snacking: some organic graham chocolate bunnies and some sunflower seeds

What are you eating??

What I'm eating...

--Up to 12:16pm CST:
When I got up --- 2 cups of decaf coffee with a teaspoon of raw agave syrup and a dollop of unsweetened almond milk

Mid-morning --- 2 small Clementine tangerines

Right before lunch (so I wouldn't be starving & tempted to eat bad things) --- 1 Ak-Mak cracker

Lunch --- (2) Whole wheat pita sandwiches -Thai Chili sauce, pickled eggplant with red peppers, roma tomatoes, avocado, Japanese turnip (that's more like a radish to me), pickled ginger, dandelion greens, and some endive.

Afternoon --- 1 lg cup of decaf coffee with unsweetened almond milk & 2 tsp of agave syrup; 1 piece of a dark chocolate bar; plus, 1 big no-no....1/2 of a yummy Hostess snowball (bad...bad...)

Dinner --- some vegetarian spaghetti (Thank you Ms. Joanne for leftovers), 4 Ak-Mak crackers, 1 glass of merlot.

T.V. snacking --- some sunflower seeds (in shells) & organic choco. graham bunnies

Okay, considering the large bags of unopened Halloween candy staring at me from the kitchen, I don't think I did too badly for today :D (The snowball was calling my name from the damn pantry though!!!)
